Moffi Set for Hamburg Medical as Bundesliga Move Nears
Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi is closing in on a move to German Bundesliga side Hamburger SV, with the Nigerian forward expected to undergo his medical on Saturday.
Hamburg have reportedly reached an agreement with OGC Nice for the transfer of the 27-year-old, while the remaining paperwork is expected to be completed after his medical.
Reports indicate that the German club will pay an initial €2 million, with a further €500,000 in potential add-ons. Moffi is expected to sign a contract running until 2029 and could become Hamburg’s new first-choice number nine.
The striker enjoyed an impressive run with the Super Eagles during the summer friendlies, registering two assists against Zimbabwe before scoring in consecutive matches against Jamaica and Poland.
Moffi joined Nice in 2023 and went on to score 24 goals and provide five assists in 72 appearances across all competitions. However, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Porto, where he helped the Portuguese club win the league title.
Although Porto had an option to make the deal permanent, the club did not activate it, paving the way for Moffi’s return to Nice and his eventual move towards Germany.
He had also attracted interest from Turkish clubs Samsunspor and Besiktas, but Hamburg now appear to have won the race for his signature.
If the medical and final documentation are completed successfully, Moffi will become the latest Nigerian star to make the switch to the Bundesliga.
