Tributes pour in as Nollywood mourns veteran actor Ogogo at 66
Nollywood stars, fans and the Ogun State Government have continued to pay tribute to veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following his reported death at the age of 66.
The respected Yoruba movie icon reportedly died on Sunday after battling advanced cancer. He is expected to be laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko announced the burial arrangements, while the Ogun State Government described Ogogo as a remarkable cultural figure whose talent and dedication helped take Yoruba traditions and storytelling to wider audiences.
Several colleagues, including Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Saidi Balogun and Bolanle Ninalowo, have also shared emotional messages in honour of the late actor, remembering him as a legend and a major influence on generations of performers.
Ogogo’s final days saw a massive show of support after his daughters publicly appealed for urgent medical help. Actors, medical professionals, politicians and fans reportedly joined efforts to find possible treatment options.
With a career spanning more than four decades and hundreds of movie appearances, Ogogo leaves behind a lasting legacy in the Nigerian film industry.
