Ex-Science Minister Uche Nnaji Arrested by DSS at Enugu Airport

Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to security sources, Nnaji was intercepted while preparing to board a private jet bound for Abuja. He was reportedly arrested at the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) before being handed over to the anti-graft agency.

The arrest is linked to an ongoing ICPC investigation into allegations that the former minister submitted forged academic certificates.

Earlier in June, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the ICPC permission to arrest Nnaji and authorised the commission to declare him wanted after it said he repeatedly failed to honour invitations for questioning.

Court documents indicated that the agency sought the order after several attempts to secure his appearance for its investigation were unsuccessful, leading it to request judicial approval to apprehend him and publicise his wanted status.
