British singer Olivia Dean continued her impressive rise by winning Best New Artist, while Cardi B earned her third BET Award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist and her first in the category since 2019. Leon Thomas secured his maiden Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award after beating a competitive field that included Chris Brown, Usher and Bruno Mars. In the film categories, Sinners was named Best Movie, while Michael B. Jordan received Best Actor for his performance in the film. The ceremony also celebrated industry icons, with music legend Ms. Lauryn Hill receiving the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award, while veteran music executive Sylvia Rhone was honoured with the Ultimate Icon Award. Sixteen-year-old entertainment journalist Jazlyn Guerra, popularly known as Jazzy's World TV, was recognised with the YoungStars Award for her growing influence in celebrity journalism.
