The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it dismantled 662 suspected drug dens, arrested 1,107 suspects and seized more than 12.7 tonnes of illicit drugs and psychotropic substances between June 2025 and June 2026.
State Commander, CN Maijama’a Muhammad, said the seizures included cannabis, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, tramadol and other controlled substances. He noted that the operations were part of sustained efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent illegal drugs from reaching communities.
According to the commander, 297 suspects were prosecuted during the period, while 251 convictions were secured, reflecting the agency’s collaboration with the judiciary to strengthen enforcement.
Muhammad also said the command intensified drug demand reduction efforts, with 94 people admitted into treatment and rehabilitation programmes, 78 successfully rehabilitated, and 1,458 others receiving counselling and brief intervention services.
He added that anti-drug awareness campaigns reached schools, communities, workplaces, religious organisations and youth groups across Kaduna State as part of the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse campaign.
The NDLEA commander commended the Kaduna State Government, security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations and other stakeholders for supporting the fight against drug abuse.
He urged parents, schools, community leaders, the media and young people to continue working together to prevent substance abuse, stressing that tackling drug trafficking and addiction requires collective action.
