ANSACA Intensifies HIV Awareness Campaign with Free Screening in Oko, Nanka
The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has continued its community-based HIV awareness and testing campaign with free screening exercises in Oko and Nanka communities

following a similar outreach held in Ajalli, the headquarters of Orumba North Local Government Area, on June 20, 2026.The initiative forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to ensure that residents across the state know their HIV status and to curb the spread of new infections through early detection, awareness, and preventive measures.
In addition to HIV screening, participants benefited from free checks for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and hepatitis, while health professionals provided counselling and education on healthy living and disease prevention.
Addressing residents during the exercise, ANSACA officials said the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo remains committed to improving healthcare delivery and promoting the well-being of all residents through sustained investments in the health sector.
They encouraged members of the public to regularly monitor their health status, especially by knowing their HIV status, stressing that early diagnosis remains key to effective management and prevention of transmission.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Ngozi Ezeani, a nurse, commended the agency for bringing the healthcare services closer to the people. She urged residents to take advantage of such opportunities to undergo routine health checks, noting that HIV is manageable when detected early and that those living with the virus can lead healthy and productive lives.
Also speaking, Mr. Bishop Odenga, a native of Benue State resident in Nanka, praised the Soludo administration for its proactive approach to healthcare delivery. He expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his health screening and encouraged young people across the state to embrace regular medical check-ups.
As part of the exercise, ANSACA officials distributed male and female condoms as well as lubricants and provided practical demonstrations on their proper use as part of efforts to promote safe sexual practices and reduce the risk of HIV transmission.
