The Spanish giants confirmed on Thursday that they had reached an agreement with the defender, who will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 30, 2030. “Real Madrid and Ibrahima Konate have reached an agreement for him to become a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030,” the club said in a statement. Konate arrives after a successful spell at Liverpool, where he made 183 appearances following his move from RB Leipzig in 2021. During his time at Anfield, the 27-year-old helped the Reds win the Premier League title in 2025 and the FA Cup in 2022, among other honours. The centre-back is currently representing France at the FIFA World Cup and is expected to join his new club after completing his international duties. Konate becomes the latest addition to a revamped Real Madrid squad as the club seeks to return to winning ways after two consecutive seasons without a major trophy. Real have already strengthened significantly this summer, appointing Jose Mourinho as head coach and signing Spain left-back Marc Cucurella and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva. The club have also been linked with a move for Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries as they continue their squad rebuild. Meanwhile, experienced defender Antonio Rudiger recently signed a contract extension that will keep him at Real Madrid until 2027, while Dani Carvajal and David Alaba departed the club upon the expiry of their contracts.
